I would start by reading the book “The Hitchhiker´s Guide to the Oceans”. It will give you lots of information how to prepare and what to do and know to get hired. There are forums you can check out and I would recommend https://www.worldcruising.com. They organize every year the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers). I am sure you will get help there. It´s a great organisation and the week before the start of the ARC is a lot of fun.
It really sounds like an awesome idea. I didn´t do the hitchhiking across the Atlantic Ocean. Instead I crossed it while working as a private teacher. Crossing the Atlantic Ocean on a small vessel is an incredible adventure. Hope you can do it too.
Could you tell me how and where you found your lift in the first place?
