In one day you have enough time to do some or all of our ideas and tips including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>enjoying the Untersberg mountain<\/li>\n<li>learning to cook with herbs<\/li>\n<li>having lunch at the Gasthof Schorn and<\/li>\n<li>seeing the famous Trick Fountains at the Castle Hellbrunn<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A short drive and we are already outside of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/en\/category\/salzburg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Salzburg<\/a> and in the middle of nature. In about 15 minutes we arrive at Gr\u00f6dig. Every time we drove along the highway past Salzburg, I wanted to get up the Untersberg. (Mission finally accomplished without hiking and sweating.)<\/p>\n<p>Altough or maybe because I grew up in the middle of the Austrian Alps I am fascinated by the 70 sq.km. large mountain. No wonder the huge Untersberg is a natural border between Austria and Germany.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6515\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Untersberg-Salzburg-e1444210693576.jpg\" alt=\"Untersberg Salzburg\" width=\"888\" height=\"666\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6464\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Untersberg-Gipfel-e1443890400192.jpg\" alt=\"Untersberg Gipfel\" width=\"888\" height=\"612\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6462 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Untersberg-im-Nebel-e1443890220407.jpg\" alt=\"Untersberg im Nebel\" width=\"888\" height=\"666\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This day the Untersberg showed us its rough side. I like it. I feel comfortable walking to the summit and enjoying the view. I can even spot the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/best-christmas-and-advent-markets-in-salzburg-austria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fortress Hohensalzburg<\/a> in the distance.<\/p>\n<p>Leaving the mountain with the cable railway, we passed through thick clouds until we viewed Gr\u00f6dig and Salzburg again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TIP:\u00a0<\/strong>If you buy the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.salzburg.info\/en\/sights\/salzburg_card\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"> Salzburg card<\/a>, the ticket for the Untersberg is included.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6517\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Untersberg-Gondel-e1444210956848.jpg\" alt=\"Untersberg Gondel\" width=\"888\" height=\"666\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately I didn\u00b4t have enough time to hike to the ice grotto or to enjoy more of the view from atop. Now, with the help of Renate Posser, our guide in Salzburg I was able to broaden my knowledge about herbs.<\/p>\n<p>Renate Prosser awaits us at the Gut Glanegg. (That\u00b4s what they told us).
