This was our mountain bike tour in the Wienerwald along the Lindkogel-Route in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/gourmet-travel-tips-for-baden-bei-wien\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Baden<\/a>, Austria.<\/p>\n<p>I was kind of worried because it was one of the hottest days this year in Austria. That\u00b4s why\u00a0I was glad we started one hour earlier as planned (9 am) and that Klaus from the Tourism Board in Baden was smart enough to bring a mountain e-bike for me. It was the best idea ever. I left my own hard trail in the van and followed the guys.<br \/>\nA triathlete, a sport coach, a soccer player and three trained bike enthusiasts. :\/<\/p>\n<p>They rode their bike from the beginning at a fast pace. Too hard for me to keep up on a bike, but as I mentioned I tried an e-bike and could follow them easily. Yeah!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5539\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5539\" style=\"width: 878px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5539 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Biken-Wienerwald-e1436371115982.jpg\" alt=\"Mountain Biking in Austria - Wienerwald\" width=\"888\" height=\"666\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5539\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The 6 trained guys<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We started at the At the Park Hotel in the center of Baden. After two minutes we already biked in the shade of trees and calming rivers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5547\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5547\" style=\"width: 878px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5547 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Biken-e1436371920261.jpg\" alt=\"Mountain Biking in Austria: Wienerwald \" width=\"888\" height=\"666\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5547\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Along the river Schwechat. The guys are still smiling.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Early in the morning, families already placed their picnic and barbecue gear along the Schwechat river. It is the local recreation area. (Too bad we don\u00b4t have time to enjoy the river and a bath.)<br \/>\nWe are on our way along a gravel\u00a0road. Biking up\u00a0steady at about 8 km\/h, until I had to try the &#8220;turbo&#8221; gear. With 23 km\/h I overtake the guys and wait for them, taking pictures.<\/p>\n<p>Along the <b>Lindkogel-Strecke<\/b>\u00a0we bike up high along gravel\u00a0roads.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5556\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Mountain-biking-e1436372543557.jpg\" alt=\"Mountain biking im Wienerwald bei Baden\" width=\"888\" height=\"666\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At about 2\/3 of the route up to the \u201eEisernen Tor\u201c we ride for a short time in the blazing sun. At this part of the route you can see Vienna and Austria\u00b4s highest skyscraper in the far distance.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5538\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5538\" style=\"width: 878px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5538 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Biken-Sonne-e1436370991171.jpg\" alt=\"Moutain Biking in Austria - in the Wienerwald\" width=\"888\" height=\"666\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5538\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Biking in the blazing sun at about 34 degrees Celsius.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Right before we reach the summit we have to overcome a <strong>last steep incline<\/strong>. Afterwards we walk\u00a0up the stairs of the Sina-Warte, an old tower. If you are there be sure you don\u00b4t miss it because you can see <strong>Baden<\/strong>, <strong>Vienna<\/strong> and the <strong>Austrian Alps\u00a0<\/strong>from top of it.<\/p>\n<div interlarded with <strong>rocks and roots<\/strong>. For me it\u00b4s hard to keep up with Thomas and our group. That\u00b4s why we bike down in two groups. The &#8216;wild&#8217; ones and the slower ones.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn\u00b4t take long and we have flat tire number two. This time at Sven\u00b4s bike. I pass him because I am the slowest anyway and find Thomas and Axel bent over flat tire number 3. While they fix it I\u00b4m sitting under a tree in the shade.<\/p>\n<p>When we&#8217;re finally ready we bike down a last gravel\u00a0road again until we reach <strong>Soo\u00df<\/strong>, a little town. From there it&#8217;s about 10 minutes back to <strong>Baden<\/strong> where we pass the Grand Casino and the Kurpark. It\u00b4s a varied route with some challenging sections. Beginners should start with an easier route. (There are lots of routes in this area).
