If you want to take photos with an uninterrupted view you should get up to the rooftop caf\u00e9 which offers the best views.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to see the stairs which are leading up to the different windows, you can see them from the Jantar Mantar.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Jaipur_City_Palace\"><\/span><strong>The Jaipur City Palace<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15483 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/fullsizeoutput_2575-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"View of the Jaipur City Palace, with a traditional carriage on the left, capturing the blend of regal heritage and cultural vibrancy of Jaipur.\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now a museum, the City Palace in Jaipur boasts stunning gates and a rich history.<\/p>\n<p>The City Palace is more than just a museum. It&#8217;s a journey through history.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite part of the palace are the richly decorated gates. Each gate here tells a different story. They represent the sky vault.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Amber_Fort\"><\/span><strong>Amber Fort<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14330 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/IMG_9792-e1701193531533.jpg\" alt=\"view of the impressive inner courtyard of the Amber Fort\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Located on a hill outside Jaipur, Amber Fort is a majestic fortress palace, accessible by foot or on the back of an elephant.<\/p>\n<p>Once at the top, the view of the surrounding hills is breathtaking.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure to explore the Sheesh Mahal inside \u2013 the mirror work is stunning. You can easily spend a couple of hours inside the Amber Fort.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Summer_Palace\"><\/span><strong>Summer Palace<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>A quick photo stop at the Summer Palace, nestled in a lake, adds to the experience.<\/p>\n<p>Its reflection on the lake makes for a perfect photo.<\/p>\n<p>Early mornings or late afternoons are the best times to visit for the light.<\/p>\n<p>You can visit the Summer Palace after you drive from the Amber Fort back to Jaipur.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Albert_Hall\"><\/span><strong>Albert Hall<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-15487\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/fullsizeoutput_2577-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"Golden Triangle India Itinerary: Visiting Delhi, Agra, Jaipur (+ some Hidden Gems)\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Albert Hall Museum, situated in the Ram Niwas garden, is an optional yet enriching stop. A boat safari on the Chambal River was a highlight for me. This boat tour gave us a chance to see alligators up close in their natural habitat.<\/p>\n<p>Another highlight of Dholpur is the Machkund temple. It&#8217;s not only a place of worship but also a piece of history settled in serene surroundings.<\/p>\n<p>And if you&#8217;re looking for a special place to stay, the <span style=\"background-color: #ccffff;\"><a style=\"background-color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/in\/raj-niwas-palace-dholpur.en.html?aid=1866216&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Raj Niwas Palace<\/span><\/a><\/span>, now a heritage hotel, is luxurious and you can visit the museum. Known for its Mughal architecture, Agra&#8217;s population is around 1.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>We arrived here from Dholpur, although train travel from Delhi is also feasible.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Taj_Mahal\"><\/span><strong>Taj Mahal<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-14352\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/fullsizeoutput_20fa-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"Golden Triangle India Itinerary: Visiting Delhi, Agra, Jaipur (+ some Hidden Gems)\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Taj Mahal is a testament to the love built by Emperor Shah Jahan for his late wife. <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">About 500 kilograms of gold were used in it! <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Stringent security measures are in place, with restrictions on items you can bring inside. <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apart from water, the camera and cell phone, handkerchiefs, and a wallet, not much more is allowed to take with you. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>For instance, as a visitor, it&#8217;s prohibited to bring any religious texts into the area.<\/p>\n<p>Walking through its massive gate, the Taj emerges in the background. It is more stunning than any picture could capture.<\/p>\n<p>Early morning visits offer the best experience. The sunrise offers soft light and makes the marble look like it&#8217;s glowing. The intricate calligraphy and floral designs up close are a special sight.<\/p>\n<p>You can even enter the tomb and afterward take a look at the Yamuna River at the back of the area.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a lot to see in Agra and the surrounding area in addition to the Taj Mahal:<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Agra_Fort_%E2%80%93_The_Red_Fort\"><\/span><strong>Agra Fort &#8211; The Red Fort<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14353\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14353\" style=\"width: 1014px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-14353\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/fullsizeoutput_2108-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"Golden Triangle India Itinerary: Visiting Delhi, Agra, Jaipur (+ some Hidden Gems)\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14353\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Agra Fort entrance<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Red Fort \/ Agra Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an impressive complex in Agra.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Until 1638, the complex was the main residence for the Mogul rulers. The main residence was then moved to Fathepur Sikri for a while.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After going over the wooden bridge there is a security check. After that, you walk up a long, wide ramp.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ornate elephants once walked here.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today thousands of tourists.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Inside, you&#8217;ll see a unique blend of Islamic and Hindu design.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t miss the Musamman Burj, Shah Jahan&#8217;s prison including an incredible view of the Taj Mahal.<\/p>\n<p>You can also explore the Diwan-i-Am and Diwan-i-Khas halls.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite part of the Agra Fort was of course this view:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-14354\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/fullsizeoutput_2114-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"Golden Triangle India Itinerary: Visiting Delhi, Agra, Jaipur (+ some Hidden Gems)\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E2%80%9CBaby_Taj%E2%80%9D_%E2%80%93_Itmad-ud-Daulah\"><\/span><strong>&#8220;Baby Taj&#8221; &#8211; Itmad-ud-Daulah<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-14348\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/fullsizeoutput_20e8-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"Golden Triangle India Itinerary: Visiting Delhi, Agra, Jaipur (+ some Hidden Gems)\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p>My second visit to India introduced me to the Baby Taj Mahal. The Itmad-ud-Daulah is a smaller, yet striking version of the Taj Mahal, set along the Yamuna River.<\/p>\n<p>It showcases similar inlay work and design as the Taj Mahal.<\/p>\n<p>The tomb, built for a Persian nobleman, is an early example of the use of white marble. Besides visiting the tomb you can also stroll around the beautiful gardens surrounding the mausoleum.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Sikandra\"><\/span><strong>Sikandra<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-14360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/IMG_1411-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"itinerary for golden triangle in india\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sikandra, the final resting place of Mughal Emperor Akbar, lies on Agra&#8217;s outskirts, showcasing an impressive mausoleum entrance.<\/p>\n<p>Its grand entrance leads to the tomb. It blends various religious designs, reflecting Akbar&#8217;s tolerance.<\/p>\n<p>The main tomb, amidst vast gardens, showcases Mughal artistry with detailed calligraphy and patterns.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Fatehpur_Sikri\"><\/span><strong>Fatehpur Sikri<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-14358\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/fullsizeoutput_20e1-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"golden triangle india travel\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fatehpur Sikri is 36 kilometers away from Agra and was the capital of the empire for 14 years, but was officially abandoned due to lack of water.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, this was just an excuse from the ruler to abandon this place because he wanted to go back to Agra.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why he had Fatehpur Sikri built at all is a long story, which tells briefly that the ruler wanted a child, and only when he went to a healer did he have a son within a year. He promised that he would relocate and therefore Fatehpur Sikri was built.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The UNESCO World Heritage site is known for its blend of architectural styles. The Panch Mahal, with its tiered design, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area.<\/p>\n<p>The Jama Masjid mosque is one of the largest in India. Impressive is the massive gateway.<\/p>\n<p>Walking through the ghost city, you can almost hear the echoes of the bustling life that once filled these now-empty courtyards.<\/p>\n<p>From Agra, it&#8217;s not far back to Delhi, where your Golden Triangle of India trip ends.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Best_Time_To_Visit_The_Golden_Triangle\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Best Time To Visit The Golden Triangle<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main season for visiting the Golden Triangle and this part of India is <\/span><b>from October until March<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. I visited the Golden Triangle twice in April.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In April, fewer visitors are traveling around Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, to do a Golden Triangle India trip.
