The <\/span><b>Rio Camuy Cave Park<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is also known as the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parque Las Cavernas del Rio Camuy. <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">named after the town of Camuy and is <\/span><b>one of the largest cave networks in the world<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While I was staying 3 \u00bd weeks in Puerto Rico, I had plenty of time to travel around and check out all the best places in Puerto Rico and this special cave in Puerto Rico.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1429\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/DSC02844-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Camuy Caves - A Guide To The Hidden Puerto Rico Caves\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/DSC02844-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/DSC02844-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/DSC02844-210x157.jpg 210w, https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/DSC02844.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Rio_Camuy_Cave_Tour\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Rio Camuy Cave Tour<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you enter the Rio Camuy Cave Park you will receive a parking ticket. This is where you pay your parking fee. At the ticket center you will get your admission ticket. Be sure to bring your parking ticket with you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will then receive a ticket with a number. When you\u2019re number is called out you can head over to the trolley.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.getyourguide.com\/s\/?q=puerto%20rico%20cave&amp;customerSearch=true&amp;lc=c206&amp;p=1&amp;partner_id=ASEFBW2&amp;utm_medium=online_publisher&amp;utm_source=city_sea_country&amp;placement=content-middle&amp;cmp=puertorico\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"sponsored noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Book a camuy caves tour here<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To get to the caves you sit in an <\/span><b>open air trolley, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">feeling like being part of a Jurassic Park tour. (We haven\u00b4t seen dinosaurs but huge <\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><a style=\"color: #333333;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/cambodian-delicacies\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">spiders<\/span> <\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">along the way. Yikes!)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The trolley ride takes you up and you will get an audioguide that is available in English as well as in Spanish.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After leaving the trolley there are a few steps to take to arrive at the entrance of the the Camuy Caves in Puerto Rico.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When entering the caves it gets colder, so you might want to bring a light jacket or sweater with you. Also be sure to wear shoes with a good grip. Some parts of the concrete walkways can be wet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will enter the cave system through cave Cueva Clara.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the tour you have access to <\/span><b>4 of the 16 known caves <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and to the <\/span><b>Tres Pueblos, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the famous <\/span><b>sinkhole<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1437\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/DSC02853-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Camuy Caves - A Guide To The Hidden Puerto Rico Caves\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is 650 feet wide and 400 feet deep. When I saw it I was thinking about the guys who jump into those sinkholes. Scary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We were told that many of the caves are over several <\/span><b>hundred feet deep. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While walking around the caves on concrete walkways, you can enjoy the sight of beautiful flowers and nature inside the park.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/DSC02856-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Camuy Caves - A Guide To The Hidden Puerto Rico Caves\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inside the cave system and the park the<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">third longest underground river in the world flows gently along. You cannot directly go to the river but you will catch some glimpses of it during the cave walking tour.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1436\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityseacountry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/DSC02850-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Camuy Caves - A Guide To The Hidden Puerto Rico Caves\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will also see Puerto Rico\u2019s largest stalagmite, as well as other stalagmites and stalagtites.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you like nature, caves and geological treasures the Camuy Caves in Puerto Rico are a great spot for you. I liked the place a lot.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tips_And_Things_To_Know_For_Visiting_The_Caves_in_Puerto_Rico\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tips And Things To Know For Visiting The Caves in Puerto Rico<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">be there as early as possible<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">take your time: you will probably like to spend 1.5 hours in the cave<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bring good shoes and a lightweight jacket or sweater<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">there is no toilet at the caves<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parking fees start at $2. The general admission for the park for adults is $18.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As for the opening hours. The Rio Camuy Caves are close to the Arecibo Observatory.
